Welcome to the Concert for Kids
Saturday, Dec. 2 2017
2017 marks the tenth anniversary of the Concert for Kids. We are excited to continue the tradition with TWO separate performances for our patrons. The Family Matinee and the original evening Concert for Kids both feature the Concert for Kids Orchestra, the Oakland Mills High School Choir and Dance Companies, and special guest artists. Each program will get you in the holiday spirit with music of the season, readings and an appearance by Jolly Old St. Nick. Continuing our partnership with WBAL Radio, On-Air personalities C4, Bill Vanko and John Patti will make appearances as guest readers.
To enhance your experience, our Holiday Boutique will be open from 12:30pm until approximately 10:00pm. Come visit our vendors whose beautiful hand-crafted jewelry, home decorations, ornaments and gifts will be available throughout the afternoon and evening.
Our Holiday Boutique will also feature a silent auction. A complete list of items will be coming soon!
Performances by the Oakland Mills High School Jazz Band, the Oakland Mills Middle School Jazz Band, and Oakland Mills High School Choir students will help to "make your spirit bright". Pictures with Santa and a do-it-yourself holiday craft will be available for the children.
And as always, all proceeds from the Concerts and the Holiday Boutique above our costs will be donated to the WBAL Radio Kids Campaign.

1:00pm Family Matinee
Our Family Matinee performance is geared towards families with younger children and patrons who want all of the fun of the original Concert for Kids but in a shorter, more compact afternoon performance. The run-time for this concert will be approximately an hour and fifteen minutes with no intermission. Readings and a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick round out an afternoon of music and dance. As an added bonus, a free do-it-yourself holiday craft will be included with every child's ticket to this afternoon celebration!
Adult Tickets: $12.00
Children's Tickets: $8.00 (12 and under)
7:30pm Concert for Kids
The original Concert for Kids is our evening performance. Continuing our annual tradition of ringing in the season with traditional and contemporary holiday music performed by choirs, orchestra, special guest artists and dancers, this concert spans generations and genres. The run-time for the evening concert will be approximately two hours with an intermission. Readings by WBAL On-Air personalities and a visit from Saint Nick help make this an evening to remember.
General Admission Tickets: $20.00

Here's what people are saying about the Concert for Kids:

I have been associated with the “Concert For Kids” since 2012 when Philip Hale contacted me with his fantastic idea to tie it into the WBAL Radio Kids Campaign. Two of my colleagues at WBAL Radio are now part of it as well, Clarence Mitchell IV (C-4) and Bill Vanko. It is now part of my annual holiday tradition. Please join us this year as we experience some exceptional local talent, make a holiday memory, and help give a Christmas to a “kid” who needs one.
John Patti - WBAL Radio News Anchor (and Howard County resident)
...It is hard to put into words how awe-inspiring this event was. It was absolutely the best in student performance that Howard County has to offer: singing, instrumental playing, and dance. And it was the picture of Rouse's dream for Columbia: racially, ethnically, and economically diverse--all coming together, using their talents, to help others...
